Maya is Lead Designer and usability evangelist here at Pixo. Her goal is to provide your users with the best experience possible — by designing interfaces that (although internally robust), are both beautiful and a pleasure to use.
Prior to Pixo, Maya worked as Graphic Designer for Wolfram Research. She was the lead web designer for Wolfram|Alpha, Wolfram’s new computational knowledge engine, which won Best of Show at the SXSW 2010 web awards and was chosen as one of TIME Magazine's 50 Best Websites 2009. She attended The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication with an emphasis in Graphic Design.
An advocate for the arts and their role in connecting communities, Maya is Co-Founder and Executive Co-Director of the Champaign-Urbana Design Organization (CUDO), a vibrant professional organization with an active membership base of over 80 local designers.
She was recognized as a 2010 Forty under 40 by the Central Illinois Business Magazine, and is taking part in the Emerging Community Leaders program through United Way. She has recently begun weight training with a former Mr. America and absolutely loves it!
